Latitude N 34 32.555 x Longitude W 83 03.303 CHURCH/CEMETERY HISTORY: ------------------------ #1 The Tugaloo Baptist Church was organized in the year 1882. Two acres were given by Mr. Sam McJunkins to build a Methodist or Baptist Church. Three years later the church building was demolished and sold to M.J. Jenkins for sixteen dollars. First structure stood for 31 years. #2 The second church was built by Rev. T.A. Gideon and during his eleven years as pastor the church continued to grow. Near South Union and stood for 11 years. #3 The third church building was erected during the pastorate of Rev. W.M. Brown. After forty years this building was destroyed by fire August 29, 1964. #4 The church was then rebuilt in 1965. In 1982, the church was 96 years old with approx. 60 members.
