CHURCH/CEMETERY HISTORY:
------------------------

The Tugaloo Baptist Church was organized in the year 1882. Two acres were given 
by Mr. Sam McJunkins to build a Methodist or Baptist Church. Three years later 
the church building was demolished and sold to M.J. Jenkins for sixteen dollars.
First structure stood for 31 years.

The second church was built by Rev. T.A. Gideon and during his eleven years as 
pastor the church continued to grow. Near South Union and stood for 11 years.

The third church building was erected during the pastorate of Rev. W.M. Brown. 
After forty years this building was destroyed by fire August 29, 1964.

The church was then rebuilt in 1965.

In 1982, the church was 96 years old with approx. 60 members.
